The Solomon Islands National University, SINU, is concerned, its academic programs have been disrupted with its pavilion used as an evacuation centre.

University Chaplain, Pastor Solomon Maesala says it is two weeks since the ‘School of Education and Humanity’ was disrupted.

He says two weeks is a long time for students to miss lectures and Tutorials.

Mr Maesala calls on National Disaster Management Office to be mindful of the difficult situation facing SINU now.

Meanwhile, Mr Maesala appeals to business houses and Government Ministries to ensure their workers residing in the evacuation camps recover quickly.

He says, instead of running to schools every time a disaster strikes, a permanent evacuation centre must be considered as future disasters are expected to increase in intensity.
