Solomon Islands has won a fifth gold medal in the 15th Pacific Games in Port Moresby, thanks to 18-year-old Solomon Islands long distance runner, Rosifelo Siosi.

SIBC’s Bart Basia reports from Port Moresby.

“Another gold medal here for Solomon Islands, Rosifelo Siosi with more than 200 metres to complete and will get gold for Solomon Islands. He has run the 10,000 metres in front of a packed stadium and coming down to the 100 metres lane, he’s only 100 counting down and another gold medal for Solomon Islands.”

However, the young North Malaita lad has told the local media last night his victory  is a dream come true.

“To all my people of Solomon Islands I dedicate this to you all and this is my first victory in my first Pacific Games and my dream came true and the next focus is I want to be an olympian.”
