FLAG RAISING INDUCTION CEREMONY ENDS IN HONIARA
A one-day induction training on reviving flag raising ceremony successfully ended in Honiara yesterday.
The training is is part of the Democratic Coalition for Change Government’s policy in the peacebuilding sector to revive flag raising ceremony in Solomon Islands.
It brought together school heads and officers from the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.
Solomon Islands Scout Association Commissioner Joe Oge said, flag raising ceremonies are important as they highlight the true identity of Solomon Islands as a sovereign nation.
“It is a reminder for our people and it’s true there are different interpretations on the way we have this flag raising, it’s true that we are building national unity, national consciousness as well as the country’s identity and impart this on our children.”
