Permanent Secretary for Culture and Tourism, John Wasi says Solomon Islands is optimistic to be the host of the next Melanesian Festival of Arts.

The Permanent Secretary was part of the 168-member contingent from Solomon Islands attending the current Melanesian Arts Festival in Papua New Guinea.

He told SIBC News in Port Moresby, the wealth of experience Solomon Islands gained from hosting the 2012 Festival of Pacific Arts can enable the country to successfully host the next Melanesian Festival in 2018.

“I think we have had a bit of an experience in hosting the Festival of Pacific Arts in 2012 and I think that experience should give us more or an idea of what’s going to happen in the next festival in 2018.”
