Improvements are being made to water supply in Honiara, following the devastating floods.

In a statement this morning, Solomon Water says burst pipes and damaged facilities, wet and dangerous working conditions are presenting great challenges to Solomon Water as it works to restore services.

The statement also said water supply is limited, but Solomon Water has doubled the percentage of people receiving water from 20 percent to 45 percent however since last Friday.

Meanwhile, the water supply authority is urging Honiara residents to boil water for drinking and food preparation as a safety precaution.
