A thanksgiving service was held for the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) government at the United Church in Honiara this afternoon.

The service was attended by the Hon.,Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, His Excellency the Governor General Sir Frank Kabui, Speaker of National Parliament, Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer, Members of Parliament, government officials and organisation reps.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare emphasise the huge responsibilities of leaders in returning this country to God as stated in his speech soon after his election as Prime Minister last year.

“On my election to the Office of the Prime Minister on the 9th of December 2014 I made the point that this country needs to return to God. That statement should not be taken lightly because I meant it. That returning to God must begin with people in important places of responsibilities in this country, at all positions of leadership because there is no point asking our people and the nation to return to God when people in positions of responsibilities are working the other way.”

Prime Minister Sogavare said God must begin in all positions of responsibility in Solomon Islands.

He therefore, thank God publicly for the existence of the Democratic Coalition for Change DCC government-believing God will lead the affairs of this country.
