Minister for Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening, Silas Tausinga says the progress of the Doma Township project for Guadalcanal has been slowed by the province’s recent political impasse and floods in Guadalcanal, and by a lack of manpower.

Minister Tausinga told Parliament last week, the Ministry and the Provincial Government is working to establish the Doma Working Group project.

But, he says another factor halting the Doma Township project is a High Court case involving Guadalcanal Province and the Project contractors.

“Another factor holding up the development is the court case currently before the High Court which involves the Guadalcanal Province and the contractors to the township project, specifically relating to the construction of the Provincial Headquarters. And I am hesitant to provide any further details at this point as I may be in prejudice to the court proceedings. Under Standing Order 22 (1) (g) Mr Speaker I ask the patience of the house and the Honourable Members to allow this court case to run its course before I discuss this matter any further.”
