The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Traffic Center in Honiara has recorded a total of 38 traffic accidents since January 1st.

Officer in Charge of Traffic Administration, Sergeant Brian Suri Malefo says the traffic unit has registered 38 traffic accidents with only one injury.

He adds, of the total, 31 cases were related to careless driving while seven were alcohol related.

“Seven cases involved drunk and unfit to drive and 31 cases involved careless driving. Now careless driving are those drivers who are inconsiderate of others while driving, so these amounts to the 38 cases. Most of the accidents are minor crashes, with a few serious ones, but luckily we didn’t record any injuries. Now during the period from 1st January to 17 of February as we speak, we’ve recorded only only one injury”.

Sergeant Malefo thanked all drivers and the general public in Honiara for complying with traffic rules and regulations.

He stressed, police will continue to emphasise on road safety measures.
