UNITED STATES ANNOUNCES $100,000 DISASTER HELP

The United States of America announces it will provide the French Red Cross Society 1-hundred thousand dollars for the delivery of emergency relief items and water, sanitation, and hygiene assistance for disaster-affected communities in Solomon Islands.

A statement from the EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’s Public Affairs Section Accredited for Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu says on 4 April, US Ambassador to Solomon Islands, Walter North issued a disaster declaration to support the immediate relief efforts to counter the effects of the floods in the country.

The US Agency for International Development, USAID, Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance,OFDA, will work with the French Red Cross Society to provide non-food humanitarian assistance in cooperation with the Solomon Islands Red Cross Society.
