Students of Mbokonavera Community High School will now have access to water again after the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) pays its outstanding water bills to Solomon Water.

The school has been without water since last week because of a huge outstanding water bills left by the NDMO who had used the school as an evacuation camp during the April floods last year.

The Forum Solomon Islands International highlighted the issue this week and its CEO, Benjamin Afuga said the disconnected water shows the failure of responsible authorities to act swiftly to avoid further disruption to the innocent students.

But the Acting Programmes Officer for NDMO, Brian Tom has confirmed a payment of around $46,000 has already been paid to Solomon Water to re-connect water to the Mbokonavera Community High School.

The NDMO paid the water bill yesterday.
