Western Cup enters day two

The 2024 Western Cup tournament, currently underway at the JFK Stadium in Gizo entered the day of competition with three games played.

According to the Western Football Association (WFA) Executive Member Loulen Hanley, the game between North West Rendova and West Marovo is scheduled for 9 am tomorrow.

“We should have completed 4 games by today, but due to the timing, we were unable to complete our last game. The two teams’ results will be seen tomorrow,”Lelapitu said.

In today’s game, Gizo United and South East Rendova ended in a 1-1 draw.

Both teams showcased good performance on the field, resulting in a shared point.

Central Roviana defeated East Shortland by 1-0.

The last game between North Vella Hunters and Noro ended in a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, the defending champion of the 2019 Western Cup, North New Georgia does not participate in this year’s competition.

A total of 15 teams are competing in the current competition.

Gizo, South East Rendova, East Shortland, and Central Roviana are in Pool B, while Noro Town, Vella Hunters, North West Rendova, and West Marovo are in Pool C.

Kolombangara, South Rannoga, West Gizo White Eye, and Simbo are in Pool D and will play their games later this week.
