The Western Provincial Government is making progress in addressing Gizo’s water crisis.

Chairperson of the interim committee addressing the crisis Marlon Lopoto says they are purchasing technical equipment to repair water sources and stand pipes around Gizo.

Mr Lopoto says this is part of an approved quick-fix plan which is progressing well.

SIBC News understands the provincial government last month approved $19,000 for the quick fix plan.

Meanwhile, Mr Lopoto says the provincial government has proposed a long term solution to the crisis- one requiring significant funds.

He hopes the National Government will hopefully assist fund the long term solution.
