The Japanese Community in Honiara will mark the end of the Second World War with a service at the Mount Austin Japanese Peace memorial tomorrow.

This is an annual event for the Japanese Community in Solomon Islands, and happens on August 15 every year.

Event organiser, Masao Yagamata says they look forward to seeing interested Japanese people in Honiara attending the service tomorrow.

The service will include praying for Japanese soldiers who lost their lives fighting during the war, and laying of wreaths.

The second world war ended in August 1945.
