A signatory for the Tambobo Hasuma Tribe is demanding money from the Saint Barabra company before it begins operations on Gold ridge instead of a traditional “Chupu” ceremony planned.
Paul Voromate says the Chairman of the Goldridge Landowners Association has informed him of a “Chupu” ceremony planned for the 16 tribes whose land the company will operate on.
But Mr Voromate says he doesn’t agree with the practise of mixing culture and business.
He says people should be paid and warns that his tribe will not take part in the ceremony.
SIBC News understands the ceremony is expected to take place tomorrow at Gold ridge.
