NO DENGUE TRANSMISSIONS FOUND IN EVACUATION CENTRES

While dengue cases continues to increase in the Honiara City Council, the Vector Borne Disease Control Program says there is no indication of dengue fever in evacuation centers.

Program Director, Albino Bobogare said the control team reported there was no indication of Dengue cases in evacuation centers.

The Director said their records also show that Malaria incident rates have not increased beyond normal seasonal level after the flash flooding.

“We note that while dengue cases continue to increase in Honiara City Council, there is no indication that there is any transmission occurring in the evacuation centres. Similarly, malaria incidence rates in Honiara City Council clinics in the two weeks since the flood have not increased beyond normal seasonal levels, there is also no indication that transmission is also occurring in the evacuation centres.”

The Vector Borne Disease Control Program also said surveys and control measures for dengue and malaria cases is continuing in the Eastern part of Guadalcanal Province.
