Office of the Clerk of Western Provincial Assembly confirms, no nomination has been received for the Western Provincial Premier’s post since nominations opened yesterday morning.

SIBC Radio Hapi Lagun’s Adrian Sina reports.

“The office of the Provincial Assembly Speaker has yet to receive nominations for the Premier’s post at this point in time, but they are expecting nominations by tomorrow just before the closing time at 4pm on 8th August 2016. SIBC Gizo understands that most of the MPAs are still in Honiara while some are here in the province.”

SIBC News understands a seven-day notice has been served to all Western Provincial Assembly Members last Wednesday.

The Premier’s position was left vacant after former Premier Hon. Robert Pae Kuve resigned on medical grounds last Tuesday.

The nomination period closes Monday 4pm.
