The Leader of Parliamentary Opposition Honorable Jeremiah Manele has reiterated, Members of Parliament entitlements must be reviewed.

Mr. Manele reiterated his earlier call based on the public call for the Opposition Group to explain its stand on the MPs tax-free entitlements.

The Opposition leader says the integrity of Members of Parliament must always be safeguarded.

In this regard, the composition of the members of the Parliamentary Entitlements Commission must be reviewed by amending the relevant provisions of the Constitution which establishes the PEC.

Honorable Manele adds the Opposition Group was not aware or consulted on the submission that went to PEC on the tax-free benefits for MP’s salaries.

Member for Small Malaita Constituency and the Opposition’s shadow Finance Minister Honorable Rick Hou has also urged the Office of the Prime Minister to renew the awards to MPs by the PEC.

SIBC News is aware, as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Mr Hou is a direct member of the Parliamentary Entitlement’s Commission.
