The Western Provincial Government has applauded its people for maintaining peace during the national general election period.

Acting Premier, Wayne Maepio says the behaviour and actions of the people indicate their desire for meaningfully participation in the democratic process.

Mr. Maepio also extends gratitude to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force, RAMSI and the Western Provincial Police Commander for showing professionalism and diligence in delivering security services in the Province during the general elections period.

He explains, the high visible presence of police in the provincial substations, polling stations and sensitive areas have contributed to
ensuring peace throughout the Election Period.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Police Commander George Guna has also acknowledged the Western Provincial Government and its people for their impressive behaviour and attitude.

He says the recent National General Elections went smoothly and without disturbance.
