The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has recorded 85 family violence related cases from January to February this year.

Family Violence Coordinator Daisy Kariamae told SIBC News, this data indicates a rapid increase in family violence compared to last year.

Mrs Kariamae says this is a bad start for the country.

Speaking at his weekly media conference, Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast says, with community support, police will do it’s best to combat family violence across the country.

“Family violence is wrong, it’s illegal and the police will do our absolute best to combat this issue but we are looking for support from the whole community or require all of the community to solve this problem.”
