ADULTS SHOULD SHOW MORE MATURITY THAN IMMATURITY

High Court Judge Stephen Pallaras has said every civilized community, village and family expect more maturity from its adults.
He made the statement when sentencing a father of five to 13 years in jail for raping and assaulting his 15-year-old niece in November 2012 , at Leo Creek in Honiara.
Judge Pallaras said the example set by adults in small communities inevitably impacts the behaviour of the next generation and such conducts as an uncle raping his young niece sets all of the wrong standards.
He said it is always incomprehensible to him how any man could think so little of a member of his own family so as to treat them with so little humanity, particularly so when that family member is a female child.
