BEMOBILE PAYS UP PREVIOUS GOODS TAX DEBTS TO GOV’T

Bemobile Telecommunication Company has today presented to the Inland Revenue Division, IRD, a cheque of more than 7- Million dollars.

The payment was announced by the Bemobile Board Chairman, Andrew Johnson this afternoon.

“We” I’d like to take this opportunity to present the Solomon Islands Government with this cheque and the US dollars saying there, in Solomon Islands currency it actually looks very impressive but it is seven-million six-hundred and ten-thousand four-hundred ad thirty-nine Solomon Islands currency, so here we are to hand it over to you.”

Mr Johnson says, the company felt it is the best time to pay up previous Goods Tax debts to assist the government with the recent devastation due to Cyclone Ita.

He adds, the company has worked closely with the tax department since 2013 to ensure all outstanding tax bills are cleared by June this year.

Mr Johnson says Bemobile wish to remain a good corporate citizen and valuable contributor to the Solomon Islands economy.
