National Referral Hospital outpatient Registrar Dr Pedical Togamae has called on all parents in Honiara City to practice proper hygiene in their homes.

Dr Togamae told SIBC News, this is important to avoid their children contracting the current diarrhea outbreak in the city.

He advised parents to quickly seek medical attention from nearest health clinics if they notice symptoms of the disease in their children.

“The message to all parents is we must prepare well our children’s food, use clean boiled water and if comes to a point where a child contracts diarrhea, you must take them to the health clinics so that nurses can see and assess them.”

SIBC News understands, the disease outbreak started surging following the recent flash floods in Honiara.
