Boboa House of Chiefs in North Malaita have said they supported the call made by East Choiseul MP Manasseh Sogavare, for a quick amendment to the Electoral Commission Act to make the selling of ID cards illegal.

SIBC’s North Malaita stringer Lensley Kwaimani reported Chief Rikai Kabui as saying amendments to the Electoral Act will avoid the buying and selling of ID cards from MPs.

“Chief Rikai Kabui said this will let us do away with such a practice. Mr. Kabui said if no ways are created to curb such bad practices, more of such bad practices may arise and will put our country in a bad situation.”

Chief Rikai calls on registered voters in North Malaita to vote carefully in this year’s general election in determining their future.
