Communities in Foxwood, Tutuva and Tenakaro in East Guadalcanal have expressed concerns over government’s delay in distributing relief supplies to victims in the area.

Chief Enoch Pegoa denies any food supply to his area since the disaster happened some three weeks ago.

He says only water tanks were distributed, but people need food to stay alive.

“Since the floods, relief supplies reaching us have always passed over, Red Cross vehicles have always went by with the relief supplies, overlooking us. Only a water tanker has given us water. In terms of food, there’s none until today.”

Chief Pegoa adds, the communities urgently need assessment teams to be deployed to assess the effects of the flash flooding.

He says about two-thousand people are devastated and efforts to find food each day is becoming very difficult.
