Residents of East Fataleka, Malaita Province have become the latest victims of the current drought impact.

The people now experience food shortage as a result of the ongoing dry weather which wilted their food crops.

Pastor Patrick Bilisi of Seventh Day Adventist Church in East Fataleka reports.

“Many of us here in East Fataleka are experiencing food shortages caused by the current dry weather. Food gardens have been affected by wilting as well as insects and pests. Potatoes are the most affected and it is difficult to plant new food gardens.”

Pastor Bilisi reports the victims calls on responsible authorities to quickly assess their situation and decide on assisting them.

“We kindly call on the responsible authorities to assist us in terms of food supply because we are affected.”
