Forum Solomon Islands International (FSII) has conducted an online survey into the recent $3 million payout made by the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government to former members of the Malaita Eagle Force (MEF).

FSII Chief Executive Officer, Benjamin Afuga told SIBC News the Forum executive conducted the survey towards the end of last Month.

“The survey was carried out towards the end of last year on 29th December after the payment we would like to refer to as the Christmas eve payment made to the former combatants of the Malaita Eagle Force.”

Meanwhile, Mr Afuga says the Forum will soon clarify its position on the issue after its meeting with legitimate representatives from both Malaita and Guadalcanal provinces.

“We have actually met with SIIPHRAA (Solomon Islands Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Advocacy Association) members from Malaita last week and today we will meet with those from Guadalcanal and I think we will make our position statement after these meetings, as to where we are standing as far as the payment is concern.”
