The Guadalcanal Football Association has launched its Small Kirios festival last week at Marasa School grounds, which attracted more than a hundred girls who are between the age of 11 and 12, from Titinge, Tamboko, Vulughe, Tanakuku and Marara Primary Schools.

A statement from the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) said the Small Kirios Girls Football festival is being supported by FIFA and OFC with Soccer Balls, training equipment targeted for girls at grassroots level.

The statement said it is intended to introduce and promote various women’s football development activities targeting not only players, but coaches and referees as well.

The theme for the festival is: “Healthy Lifestyle is Achievable.”

However, St Francis Vaturanga has also launched its Small Kirios festival yesterday.
