The President of the Guadalcanal Council of Women has strongly condemned the tragic death of a woman from the province last week.

The woman was allegedly the victim of a domestic violence with her husband.

She passed away Monday last week at the National Referral Hospital.

Speaking to SIBC News, President Grimta Tome described what happened to the woman as an act of terror.

Mrs Tome says this action is not acceptable anywhere and especially for women who should feel safe in their own homes with their families.

“There shouldn’t be any excuse at all to inflict such violence especially when you said you’re drunk and you did it or you have reasons as such, but they are no excuses at all for you to inflict violence on someone who is below your power.”

Sharing her sympathy with the deceased’s mother and children, Mrs Tome says it is a very tragic incident.

“It will last for a long time especially with the children of the deceased who will bear the incident when it comes to their future adventures. They will still realize and remember it that the perpetrator is none other than the one they were supposed to trust.”
