Over a hundred constituency development officers, constituency accountants and project officers are undergoing an induction workshop in Honiara.

Each of the fifty constituencies in the country have one constituency development officer, one constituency accountant and one constituency project officer – all of which are public service posts.

Run by the Ministry of Rural Development, the workshop is purposely to inform the officers and accountants about the process and procedures of the Ministry of Rural Development.

Acting Deputy Director for the Ministry’s Rural Development Matilda Watesao says the induction is held annually to equip the CDOs with the right information to help them with their roles.

“The purpose of this induction workshop is to inform them of the processes and procedures, how the Ministry of Rural Development works and how project applications from constituencies will come as well as requirements in order for the constituents can access funding under the Ministry of Rural Development as well as to inform the officers of their roles and responsibilities.”

A total of one hundred and fifty participants are attending the induction workshop. The workshop ends on Wednesday.
