The proposed concept paper on Road Transport by the Honiara City Council’s Law Enforcement Division is looking to regulate transport businesses in the city.

Chair of the Law Enforcement Division, Charles Aiwosuga said the current Road Transport Ordinance 2015 Paper currently under discussions will ensure no foreigners or expatriate-run any public transport as a business in the City.

Mr Aiwosuga says the ordinance will help locals run public transport services in the City.

“As Chair of the Law Enforcement I am working on an idea of a concept paper for the Honiara City Council to look at a road transport ordinance for buses, taxi, pick-ups and private vehicles that are operating on the Honiara roads. Buses will run certain kilometers, for instance 10 kilometers before turning because buses, taxis and pick-ups are registered as public service providers, providing service to the people.”
