H.C.C’s HEALTH DIVISION CONDUCTS ECO-SCHOOL PILOT PROJECT
The Honiara City Council Health Division is conducting an eco-school pilot project for City Council schools in Honiara.
The project will be conducted by a Japanese Environmental Educator Volunteer Hana Yusuda and wants to educate children on the importance of living in a healthy environment.
The project also wants to change the mindset of children to respect and value the environment including site visits and paper crafts.
It will carry the theme “Eco-school for a cleaner Solomon Islands”.
Meanwhile, the Acting Chief Health Inspector at the City Council, Christina Onahikeni said the eco-school project is a first of it’s
kind to be introduced in the country.
Mr Onahikeni said the project will have great impacts on students, especially in keeping their schools in a healthy environment.
She adds her division will set out officers to monitor impacts of the project next week.
