FLOODING CAUSED DAMAGE TO FOOD GARDENS FOR PARTS OF MALAITA

Associated bad weather with Cyclone Pam has caused severe damage to food gardens in Kware, Malaita Province.

A David Auga reports, heavy rains caused major flooding and wiped out food gardens.

“We live between two rivers here in Kware, big Kware and small Kware. The two rivers throughout last week have flooded and no gardens were left alongside the rivers. So what we want to relay to the authorities is that the damage in this part of Malaita island is also severe.”

Mr Auga says, people have been forced to harvest what is left of their crops to eat, or sell them at the market.
