The Honiara City Council has begun its advocacy program via its recently launched Communications Bureau, with an extensive talk back shows on ‘Building Ordinance’ today.

Today’s talkback show topic was to raise awareness on the City Council’s Town and Country Planning Act and Building Ordinance amongst Honiara residents.

City Council Physical Planner Stanley Kataha told the talkback show, a lot of people in Honiara are building all over the place and are in breach of the Act and Ordinance.

“A lot of our people in Honiara are building unnecessarily, some not even following the Town and Country Planning Act, more so the Building Ordinance, and when people are building unnecessarily they will find that they are bing fined for building without following the requirements of the by-laws, the building by-laws.”

SIBC News understands the City Council’s talk back show series will continue next Saturday.
