Prime Minister Honourable Manasseh Sogavare says he summons all Solomon Islands citizens to work together with his Democratic Coalition for Change Government to address challenges that long deprived Solomon Islands of economic prosperity.

In his 2015 New Year’s message to the nation, Prime Minister Sogavare says the task before him and his government is to immediately address the challenges that hindered the country from ensuring a better life for its citizens.

He adds this will be no easy task- his government will require collective support and continued assistance from our development partners for its successful completion.

Hon Sogavare says his DCC Government believes the country’s development and economic challenges boils down to the existing centralised national development strategy and its Comprehensive Development Policy being finalised sets out remedial measures to deliver the county from this bottleneck.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare declares, his DCC Government is determined to address corruption head-on.

Mr Sogavare believes, corruption is an obstacle to Solomon Islands forward movement.

He says his government will establish an independent commission against corruption for the investigation of corruption allegations against politicians and government officials, introduce anti-corruption legislation and subsidiary regulations.

The Prime Minister adds the commission’s role includes reviewing existing legislation that give discretionary powers to the Government Ministers and Officials with the intention of transferring such statutory powers to a body or board to ensure important decisions are collectively made.
