The Member of the Provincial Assembly for Ward Seven in Malaita Province Hon Leslie Kwaiga has called on the Malaita Provincial Premier Hon Peter Ramohia to clarify the Malaita Provincial Government’s Borrowing Policy.

Hon Kwaiga says he made the call following a process which the provincial government borrows money with interest from individuals for the operation of the provincial executive.

He says, as a member of the Malaita provincial assembly, he knew, the provincial government had borrowed money from three Malaitans to run the province.

Meanwhile, Kwaiga calls on Premier Ramohia to explain the borrowing processes.

“I call on our Premier Hon. Peter Ramohia to explain to us the people of Malaita how much our government has borrowed from each of the lenders since 2015 upwards and I would like the Premier to reveal the lenders’ names, how much the lenders gave to the province, how much Malaita has repaid and how much interest did the province pay.”
