MALAITAN LEADERS CALLED UPON TO HELP CLINICS
The Malaita Provincial Government and its National MP’s have been called upon to help the Roman Catholic Church improve the deteriorating conditions of its two clinics in Small Malaita.
Father Peter Kevin is looking after the clinic at the Tarapaina Parish in Small Malaita. The other clinic is in Rokera.
Father Peter says the clinics have deteriorated badly over the past two years.
The Catholic Father told SIBC News his efforts to secure assistance to improve the health facilities have failed and the church might have to close down the clinics soon.
“Out of my concern I’ve tried to contact the responsible authorities at Afio but there was no positive response and so I call on the National and Provincial governments to look into this mater, if they can help the Catholic church of the two parishes to do something about renovation and improvement of the two clinics. Otherwise, I have thoughts of closing them down while I will try to source funds to rebuild these two clinics at the respective parishes.”
