A Small Malaita village man has made an urgent call on police in Honiara to assist community elders in Ro’one village to curb criminal activities which are on the rise.

Andrew Hou told SIBC News the situation in the village is getting out of hand and villagers are asking for intervention from authorities.

Mr Hou says abuse of illegally made alcohol and drugs, including marijuana is on the rise among the young population of his village.

“They are involved in drinking of kwaso, home brew and behave disorderly in the community when under the influence of alcohol. So the current situation at Ro’one now is the planting and selling of marijuana, young boys, smoking marijuana, things never happened before. The selling and production of kwaso and home brewed alcohol are practiced at the  moment.”
