The Ministry of Infrastructure Development confirms the arrival of the Bailey Bridge tomorrow, Tuesday 20th May 2014.

The Bailey Bridge donated by the New Zealand Government is to replace the old Mataniko Bridge which was washed away during the recent floods.

Ministry officials say, all stakeholders are working tirelessly to ensure it comes in smoothly and gets to the construction site quickly.

Ports Authority and Customs have given priority to this shipment for landing and MID thank them for their quick action and cooperation.

SIBC News understands, Downer New Zealand Limited the company contracted to build and install the bridge is on site and ready to work on the bridge as soon as it arrives.

The Ministry of Infrastructure has cautioned members of the public to stay well away from the construction site as both sides of the river has been closed off to public.
