MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT TO MARK THREE VITAL DAYS
The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology has three important days to commemorate next month.
They are the World Environment Day, to be commemorated on 5th June; World Oceans Day and Coral Triangle Day on 9th June and World Biodiversity Day, which usually falls on 22nd May.
The ministry says these global events are marked and celebrated across the world in efforts to voice environmental challenges faced by the global community, such as pollution, deforestation, over-fishing and climate change.
It adds, this year the ministry, in partnership with the Youth at Work, will be marking these three events on Friday 5th June at the National Arts Gallery.
A tentative program outlined for the commemoration includes Permanent Secretary Dr Melchior Mataki as the keynote speaker for the day.
