Member of Parliament for Northwest Choiseul Connelly Sandakabatu has strongly recommended that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) or any funds under the direct discretion of Members of Parliament be completely removed.

Mr. Sandakabatu made the statement in his contribution to the Sine Die in Parliament last week.

He told Parliament that MPs should be free to legislate and not be Automatic Teller Machines.

“I strongly recommend that the CDF or any funds at the direct discretion of MPs should be completely removed. MPs should be free to legislate and not as Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)

SIBC News understands former Parliamentarian Alfred Sasako has also echoed similar sentiments this week, suggesting a draft legislation be brought to Parliament of what he called an independent Constituency Funding Commission.
