NCRA DELIVERED PLEDGE TO KILU’UFI HOSPITAL
The NCRA Government has handed over the Prime Minister’s pledge of around $2.9 million to the Kilu’ufi Hospital in Malaita Province.
When he visited Kilu’ufi Hospital on Christmas Day last year, Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo made a pledge of $3 million for the hospital.
Director of the Government Communications Unit, George Herming, told SIBC News yesterday, the Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga had handed over the funds in a brief ceremony.
“This is a funding or special monies pledged by Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo when he visited Malaita Province, especially Kilu’ufi hospital on Christman day last year, so the government has fulfilled that pledge and today the Deputy Prime Minister Honourable Manasseh Maelanga came over to Auki to hand over the funds to Kilu’ufi hospital and its management team to run the hospital services in an improved way.”
Mr Herming also said the Deputy Prime Minister had urged the Hospital Executive to account for the funds and to use it for its intended purpose.
“One important thing the Deputy Prime Minister has urged Malaita Province especially the health authorities here is to account for these funds, making sure they are used for its right purpose. That is the message strongly emphasised by the Deputy Prime Minister and he has also received confirmation and assurance from the medical authorities especially the hospital director that his team will make sure the funds must go for its intended purpose.”
The $2.9 million are monies from a Taiwanese Government contribution given to the Solomon Islands Government to improve health services in Solomon Islands.
