Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has formally welcomed Solomon Islands High Commissioner to PNG, His Excellency Barnabas Anga to Port Moresby.

At a special ceremony, Prime Minister O’Neill acknowledge and reiterates Solomon Islands contributions towards Melanesia and the wider Pacific Region in terms of social and economic developments.

Prime Minister O’Neill also acknowledged the Solomon Islands Government engagement with PNG’s Bank South Pacific (BSP) for the decentralization of financial services to rural areas to enhance the people’s participation in profitable and sustainable economic activities.

He also also renewed his Government’s commitment to progress the PNG Scholarship Awards to Solomon Islanders studying at PNG tertiary institutions.

In response, High Commissioner Anga briefed Prime Minister O’Neill on the progresses of the bilateral relations between PNG and Solomon Islands Governments.

High Commissioner Anga says, the Solomon Islands Government has posted an Education Attaché at the High Commission Office to progress the implementation of the scholarship program.
