The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) has acknowledged the public support it received at the end of last year.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said in his first media conference for the year yesterday.

He said police really enjoyed the public support received during the national general election and the Prime Minister’s elections.

Mr Prendergast said public support has also been great during the provincial elections and the recent festive season, enabling successful police operations during these events.

“Clearly the end of the year was a very busy period for the country and for the RSIPF with the National General Election, the Provincial Elections, the Honiara City Council Elections, followed by the Christmas and New Year period. I’d like to reiterate the RSIPF’s thanks to the community for the support we enjoyed over that period. I think the Christmas/New Year period was relatively quiet, we’re very happy with the spirit that the community took part in those celebrations.”
