POLICE CONDUCTED ANOTHER HIGH VISIBILITY OPERATION

Another high police visibility operation will be conducted throughout this weekend.

Deputy Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga confirms in her weekly media conference in Honiara yesterday.

She said crime hot spots will be targeted during the operation, including traffic issues.

“We will continue to conduct our high visibility operation this weekend, particularly targeting crime hot spot areas as well as dealing
with traffic issues along our main roads.”

The Deputy Commissioner says police have also recorded a high number of offences which are alcohol-related during a similar operation last week.

She says though most are minor offences in nature, they can lead to major incidents in the society.

“And these include traffic matters, domestic violence issues, street offences, minor criminal behaviour like consumption of liquor in
public and playing loud music. I’d like to talk about this because all these issues are minor in nature but these could lead to more major incidents in our society.”
