The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is now scaling down operations following a week-long operation covering the Melanesian Spearhead Group summit (MSG).

Last week was also a busy week as police conduct ‘Man hunt’ of burglars and High visibility operations which turned out successful, evident in the very low crime rate and minor disturbances reported in the Honiara city and communities.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast has commended the professionalism and effort displayed by both RSIPF and PPF officers during the operations, and greatly acknowledged the support and cooperation from members of the public.

Commissioner Prendergast says, the operation has resulted in very low crime incidences reported within the city and more than 20 suspects were arrested, including a burglary fugitive and others at Tetere area.

He says Police continues its high visibility operation as the country prepares for the independence celebration.

He adds a foreign vessel will be touring the country over the weekend and police will also ensure its security.
