The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is currently working with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) to address the security concerns at the National Referral Hospital.

Commissioner of Police Frank Prendergast says he is working with the Ministry of Health to improve security at the hospital.

“Yesterday we’ve had officers at the hospital doing a security assessment and I have the report on my desk now which I need to work through with the Ministry which make some recommendations for improving security. We’ve also undertaken to increase the regularity of RSIPF patrols at the hospital.”

The Police Commissioner says it is unfortunate that the hospital has these security issues and assures every effort will be done to ensure the past security let-down do not resurface again.

A number of random visits by SIBC News to the hospital compound during odd hours have proven police presence in the compound.
