Sigimanu receives top award

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Legal affairs, Mrs. Ethel Sigimanu was awarded the “2019 Women of Courage” award last night at the Heritage Park Hotel.

Established in 2007, Mrs. Sigimanu was the 12th Awardee of the US Government prestigious women’s award.

US Ambassador to PNG Vanuatu and Solomon Islands, Catharine Ebert-Gray described Mrs. Sigimanu courageous woman who braved the male-dominated workforce, where she stand her grounds to fight for women’s right and gender-based-violence  in the Solomon Islands.

“Mrs. Sigimanu deserves the award. Congratulations!”

Meanwhile, Mrs. Sigimanu said, “I am humble and so happy to receive the award.”

The first award Awardee was Mrs. Appolonia Talo.
