Member of Parliament for South-East Choiseul Manasseh Sogavare has commended the Parliamentary standing committees for involving people in Parliament’s decision making processes.

Mr Sogavare made the statement during his presentation on good governance at the mock women’s parliament programme this week.

He says participatory governance is a characteristic of good governance and Parliamentary standing committees have taken steps to involve Solomon Islanders in decision making processes that affects their lives.

“And we must congratulate our Parliament. Has been taking steps in recent years to involve our people in its decision making processes through the work of the standing committees. Parliament in this process conducts nationwide consultations on major policy decisions. These consultations have proved to be very helpful in assisting parliament to make informed decisions.”

SIBC News understands over forty women successfully took part in the Mock Parliament session at the National Parliament House today.
