Solomon Islands will be celebrating International Museum Day this week – under the theme “Museum for a Sustainable Society”.

The celebration wants to raise awareness about the roles and responsibilities which culture and heritage institutions plays in developing societies.

The theme “Museum for a Sustainable Society” highlights the roles of museums in raising public awareness that is less wasteful, more cooperative and uses resources that respects living systems.

The launch will take place at the National Art Gallery tomorrow and will feature speeches from the Minister for Culture and Tourism Bartholomew Parapolo and Permanent Secretary John Wasi.
