Suspect in Avuavu schoolgirl’s murder to appear in court

A man accused of killing a schoolgirl in Avuavu, South Guadalcanal last year will appear before the High Court for the first time tomorrow.

Christopher Kopeta was committed by the Magistrate’s Court early this week to stand trial at the High Court after a short pre-trial conference.

Mr Kopeta and two other suspects allegedly attacked the girl with bush knives at Bubughua village, South Guadalcanal.

The deceased, a student at Bubutasi Primary School, was walking home from school when she was allegedly attacked.

Her body was found days later.
